Make Your Own Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin Spice Latte | Flat Rate Carpet BlogWith the cool autumn breeze comes the delicious desire for warm drinks. It’s time to toss aside the ice coffee and move on to fall delicacies like pumpkin spice lattes. This fall flavored coffee is super easy to whip up at home, and will save you a bundle by making it yourself.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup espresso or half a cup of very strong coffee
  • 2 cups milk (non fat, whole, soy – any kind you like)
  • 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (more or less depending on your taste)
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Directions:

Mix together the milk, sugar and pumpkin in a medium sized sauce pan. Then cook the mixture over a medium heat until it starts to steam.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients.
Either blend the mixture for a few seconds, or mix by hand using a wire whisk. (A blender will make the mixture more foamy.)

Now just pour everything into a mug and enjoy!

Lots of Latkes

Whether you’re going to a Hannukah party, or eating at home with the family, it’s time to start eating the delicious potato pancakes known as latkes.

This yummy holiday treat is easy to make and delicious for everyone!

Start off by grating about 2 or 3 potatoes and one onion. It’s important to let as much moisture out of the mix as possible. Most recipes say to let the mix drain for half an hour, but I recommend a few hours at least.

Next add 3 eggs, beaten, two tablespoons matzo meal or flour, and salt and pepper to taste. Heat about ½ cup of oil in a deep frying pan. Drop in large spoonfuls of the mixture, flattening them into pancakes. Cook the latkes about three minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Place the latkes on paper towels to help remove excess oil. Latkes are traditionally served with apple sauce or sour cream.

Halloween Recipes for a Ghoulish Evening!

Last post we looked at crafts you could make, but today it’s time to think about what you’ll be eating and drinking on the big night.

With a creepy feel to them, let’s start with these Halloween eyeballs. You will need 20 marshmallows, 20 chocolate chips and some red icing. Push a chip into each marshmallow then draw the blood lines with the red icing. The result is very scary!

Or what about some Halloween punch? Take one bottle of apple juice, one bottle of lemon-lime soda, one bottle of ginger ale, and some green frozen juice concentrate. Mix together well, and add some cinnamon and cloves if you like. Delicious!

Finally, what party would be complete without some spooky Halloween cupcakes?

After you’ve made the basic cupcakes, with butter, sugar, flour and eggs, make up some icing in garish orange and frightening black. Decorate each cake with a spider’s web and your guests will howl with fright as they tuck in!

Happy Halloween!
