Blood Stains

Blood stains are some of the toughest stains to remove – because they’re organic.  And once they have set in, especially if they’ve been exposed to heat, they often become permanent.  So what do can you do if you see blood on your carpet?

As a rule of thumb the best thing to do is blot away as much blood as you can, as quickly as possible.  Don’t delay!   One good idea is to mix half a cup of water with a tablespoon of ammonia.  This will neutralize the stain.  Then dab it lightly with a laundry pre-treatment remover (hydrogen peroxide, salt, or even PH neutral detergent).

Blot carefully (don’t scrub) until the stain comes away, then spray with some water.  Finally, cover it with a paper towel and leave it to dry.

Good luck!
